We have about a week and a half left in this holiday season. If you managed to enjoy your holiday meals and beverages without going completely overboard or if you gave yourself a built-in excuse to over indulge, we can still enjoy remaining festivities while eating sensibly. Many people have plans to wait until after the first week of January to straighten up. However, if you follow a few simple rules and it could prevent a 5 lbs weight gain or more and improve your energy level to close out the year.
Number 1: Have fun and throughly enjoy your friends, families, and the holiday meals.
Number 2: Fill your plate with the foods you enjoy, but DO NOT pile the food a mile high! It’s not going anywhere.
Number 3: When you feel that you want just a little more dinner, wait about 15 minutes then see if you are still hungry. If not, great you are finished. If you still are hungry, get a much snack size portion.
Number 4: Load up on your favorite vegetables, the dark green leafy kind if possible. I’ve had quite a few servings of collard greens over the past 3 days.
Number 5: It’s great to enjoy the alcoholic beverages during the holidays. Remember the golden rule: Sip – Yes! Guzzle – No!
Number 6: If the thought of working out causes a bout of depression, give yourself a break from your rigid requirements. Participate in fun physical activities like playing football or going for long walks. You will find that since you’ve allowed yourself so much freedom, you will happily squeeze in a workout or two.
Ok, so get out there and enjoy! Just remember to keep the above tips in mind. BTW, this holiday fitness plan can also be used during any vacation.
