At a time when the gas prices continue to climb, the Bush administration subtly threatens action against Iran on a weekly basis, soldiers are dying left and right in Iraq and Afghanistan, the mortgage meltdown is in full swing, and behemoth financial institutions need rescuing, John “Bush” McCain is strolling along like it’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Although last week was horrendous for him, the MSM keeps proving this hard truth over and over again: this campaign is a referrendum on Obama. But don’t get it twisted, some black folks are helping to derail this campaign like a referee throwing an NBA playoff game.
“Bill is saying let’s fight the right fight, let’s level the playing field…drunk people can’t do that. Illiterate people can’t do that.” Jesse Jackson spoke those words back in 2004 in reaction to the outrage against Bill Cosby’s biting criticism of black folks not raising their children. Bill comments included “Stop beating up your women because you can’t find a job…I can’t even talk the way these people talk, ‘Why you ain’t,’ ‘Where you is’ … and I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk…And then I heard the father talk … Everybody knows it’s important to speak English except these knuckleheads. You can’t be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth.”
Now, errr, ummm, Obama’s comments weren’t nearly as inflammatory, however, Jackson’s response was: “I want to cut his nuts off!” Yes, Obama speaks about the importance of a strong black father and this is the thanks he gets. Why, Jesse, why? One commentator reasoned that because Barack stated that fathers need to be at home taking care of their children, Jesse was rubbed the wrong way because he has a child-out-of-wedlock situation going on. Jesse, my dear, green does not look good on you.
A “ho” joke, Bernie? Really? I love me some Bernie Mack, period. HOWEVER, we all know the drill. If you are opening for Barack Obama, anything you say will be attributed to him. Obama is now responsible for everything any black person does during this election cycle. Act like you know! As Katt Williams said: “Don’t f*ck it up for him!”
Blogger Sandra Rose:
I’m glad too know I am not the only one out there in the blogosphere… The Black Snob mentioned how off-base (if not downright ridiculous, IMO) Sandra Rose’s comments were about Malia being “too grown” during an Access Hollywood interview. Malia and Sasha (or weeMichelles are they are affectionately called) came across as beautiful, intelligent, affectionate, and healthy kids with age appropriate behavior. What was so apparent during the interview was how much the children loved, respected, and LIKED their parents. Malia joked about how “important people” like Angelia Jolie are usually in popular magazine as opposed to her mother (who appeared in People). Malia also informed her father that he only needs to wave or say hi to her friends instead of shaking hands which should be reserved for adults. Impressive and genuine.
Maybe Sandra Rose equates speaking English well to “being grown”…maybe the Sandra Roses’ of the world would feel better if Malia and Sasha threw up gang signs and had “Thug Life” tatted across their stomachs…I don’t know. But I would like to send out my heartfelt congratulates to the Obamas for raising great children and and being a beautiful portrait of a black family.
